Description:
The CESSDA Training Activities 2020 project was developed in response to the need to preserve the continuity and quality of the activities of the CESSDA Training Group, despite the limited training budget for 2021 and 2022, and to further strengthen the capacities of service providers. A particular challenge concerned the maintenance of existing resources, the improvement of training visibility, and the development of new content intended for data archive staff and the research community.
The main objective of the project is to improve the CESSDA training system through the development, maintenance, and promotion of practical, accessible, and reusable training materials. The project is intended for staff of CESSDA service providers, new and aspiring members of the network, staff of other repositories, and researchers who require knowledge related to data management, archiving, and data discovery.
The approach includes regular maintenance of the CESSDA Training website, the DMEG guide (Data Management Expert Guide), and the events calendar, updating Train-the-Trainer materials, organising training events, and developing the new Data Archiving Guide (DAG) resource. The activities also include the preparation of practical guides for creating video content and webinars, the production of training videos, and the delivery of thematic webinars for researchers.
The key results include updated training content, reports on maintenance and promotion, improved workflows for events, practical guides, video and webinar materials, as well as the structure and initial content for DAG. The immediate benefit is reflected in the greater accessibility of training, the more efficient work of the CESSDA Training Group, and the strengthened capacity of service providers to independently develop high-quality training formats. In the long term, the project contributes to positioning CESSDA as a central European resource for training in the field of data management in the social sciences.
