On September 10th, the Second Forum on the Evaluation of Research Institutions, titled "Building Better Science," was held at the premises of the National Bank of Serbia. The event was organized by the Institute of Economic Sciences in cooperation with the Ministry of Science, Technological Development, and Innovation. The forum was opened by Dr. Jovan Zubović, Director of the Institute of Economic Sciences, and Vukašin Grozdić, State Secretary at the Ministry of Science, Technological Development, and Innovation, who emphasized the importance of improving the evaluation system for research institutions in Serbia.
The first session focused on the evaluation of research and development in the European Union and China, with presentations by Dr. Marco Malgarini, Director for the Evaluation of University Research, Italian National Agency for the Evaluation of the University and Research Systems – ANVUR, and Mr. HU Zhiyu, Head of Science, Technology and Innovation, First Secretary, Political Section, Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Serbia.
The second session was dedicated to "Enhancing the Evaluation of Research Institutions in Serbia," with a presentation by Professor Dr. Toivo Maimets, Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology, University of Tartu, and the Estonian Research Council.
The panel discussion, titled "Perspectives and Challenges in Peer-review Based Assessment of Research Institutions" featured Dr. Marina Soković, Assistant Minister, Ministry of Science, Technological Development, and Innovation of the Republic of Serbia; Dr. HU Zhiyu, First Secretary, Political Section, Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Serbia; Dr. Toivo Maimets; and Dr. Mladen Stamenković, Vice Dean for Research, University of Belgrade - Faculty of Economics.
