As part of the Serbia Accelerating Innovation and Growth Entrepreneurship (SAIGE) project, a study visit to the United Kingdom was organized from February 2 to 7, 2025, for institutes in the social sciences and humanities. Researchers from the Institute of Economic Sciences, Dr. Sonja Đuričin, Head of the IEN Transformation Team, and Dr. Isidora Beraha, Head of the Sector for Fundamental Research, participated in this visit.
During the visit, working meetings were held at the University of Essex, City University of London, University College London, the Institute for Government, and UK Research and Innovation. The main goal was to gain insights into the work of research institutions and to collect best practices related to increasing the impact of research results on the economy and society, as well as utilizing research findings for evidence-based policymaking.
At University College London, within the South East Europe Research Unit, a roundtable discussion was organized on the topic "Social, Economic and Political Transformation of Serbia in the International Context". Dr. Sonja Đuričin presented "Innovation Policy and Development Perspectives of the Innovation System of the Republic of Serbia", while Dr. Isidora Beraha participated in a panel discussion on "Challenges of Economic, Social and Political Transformation of Serbia".
This study visit represents an important step in strengthening the capacities of Serbian research institutes and enhancing their contribution to science and policy development.
