The Local Coordinator of the HORIZON2020 project, Dr. Milena Lazić, participated in a high-level Policy Event in Brussels

The Research Associate of the Institute of Economic Sciences and the Local Coordinator of the HumMingBird project - Enhanced Migration Measures from a Multidimensional Perspective, Dr. Milena Lazić, made an official visit to Brussels. During the visit, Dr. Milena Lazić actively participated in a high-level policy event aimed at promoting and disseminating the project's results among policymakers in the EU, researchers, and other stakeholders.

The event started with an insightful opening speech by Juan Fernando Lopez Aguillar from the European Parliament – S&D, Chair of the Committee on Home Affairs. Mr. Lopez Aguillar emphasized the challenges ahead in implementing and enforcing asylum requests while respecting the rights of the persons concerned. This was followed by four panel discussions in which researchers and work package leaders presented the findings of their teams, leading to lively discussions and questions from policymakers, stakeholders and representatives of the academic community.

The event marked an important and significant milestone in the HumMingBird Project 's journey. It served as a platform for policymakers, researchers and stakeholders to exchange ideas and collaborate on tackling the complex problems of migration. By leveraging research findings and fostering partnerships, the project aims to develop more inclusive and sustainable migration policies that benefit both migrants and host communities.
