The Institute of Economic Sciences hosted its 18th International Scientific Conference

The Economics Innovation Department of the Institute of Economic Sciences organised the 18th International Scientific Conference “Innovation Economics, Policy and Entrepreneurship” (INNOPE 2026) on 20–21 October 2026, in cooperation with the Economic Institute Zagreb, the Institute of Economics – Skopje and the International Balkan University. The conference brought together researchers, representatives of institutions and international organisations, and stakeholders from the innovation ecosystem.

The conference programme included the Transformative Innovation Camp, keynote lectures, panel discussions, a round table and parallel scientific sessions. The main topics covered innovation and industrial policies, entrepreneurship development, strengthening innovation ecosystems, the green and digital transitions, and international cooperation in science and innovation.

Keynote lectures were delivered by Alasdair Reid, Executive Director of the European Future Innovation System Centre (EFIS Centre), Dr Nicoletta Corrocher, Lecturer in Applied Economics at Bocconi University in Milan, and Prof. Dr Slavo Radosevic, Professor at University College London. Their presentations addressed contemporary approaches to innovation policy, the challenges of scaling up innovative enterprises, and the role of innovation in economic and technological transformations. The panel discussions focused on strengthening links between science, public policy and industry, with particular emphasis on developing startups and spin-offs and supporting their growth.

The second day of the conference focused on science diplomacy and international cooperation. Introductory presentations and a panel discussion brought together representatives of the scientific community and international organisations to explore how science diplomacy can strengthen cooperation and address contemporary global challenges.

The SAIGE and POLICY ENLARGE projects supported the implementation of the conference programme.
