The subject of the research of the proposed project is to identify the key structural problems of the Serbian economy and to determine the direction and strategy of implementing structural adjustment with the aim of increasing national and international competitiveness, increasing overall development performance and harmonizing the economic structure with the requirements of the EU and the IMF.
The project consists of five interconnected units: The first part will deal with the analysis of the transitional changes so far and the assessment of the current situation in the economy of Serbia. Special attention will be paid to the impact of the global financial crisis on the economy of Serbia; The second part will be focused on the macroeconomic framework of structural adjustment, and especially on the issues of necessary reforms of the real and financial sectors of the Serbian economy; The third part will deal with the analysis of the existing challenges and perspectives of the restructuring of economic entities, primarily the transformation of enterprises; The fourth part is devoted to the economy of work, and especially to issues of employment and employment; The fifth part will deal with the improvement of competitiveness as well as the issue of the national brand of Serbia.
The realization of the project will bring together a critical number of researchers (43 in total) from several scientific institutions. The research results will be presented at several international and regional scientific meetings and published in several monographs, articles and other publications.
Research within this project will significantly advance scientific knowledge in the field of economics of structural changes. It will be of wider social and practical importance for a larger number of users.
