The Institute of Economic sciences supports the Joint Research Centre in the analysis of regional research and innovation capacities and promising cooperation niches in the ICT sector in the Western Balkans. The tasks of the project include the analysis of existing knowledge and data on the value chains and the economic, innovative, and scientific potential as well as the research and innovation capacities of the economies of the Western Balkans in the ICT sector. In parallel, an online survey and a series of interviews with relevant stakeholders were conducted. Based on this methodological approach, the Institute produces a comprehensive report that serves as a consolidated overview of the ICT sector in the Western Balkans, focusing on value chains, economic aspects, innovation and scientific potential, cooperation networks and the role of ICT in digitalization and green transformation.
