Description:

The goal of the MapIT project is to develop a concept for mapping in GIS software and creating a digital archive of the industrial heritage of socialist Serbia. This project explores the historical significance of industrial complexes and the profound social changes brought about by industrialization in various regions of Serbia. By developing an interactive digital map and a comprehensive archive of primary sources, MapIT aims to enhance academic and public understanding of this critical period, emphasizing the importance of preserving industrial heritage as a testament to economic and technological progress, as well as social transformation. Through this initiative, we strive to raise awareness, promote educational initiatives, and uncover potential commercial opportunities in tourism and heritage conservation, ensuring that the legacy of industrialization is recognized and appreciated.
