Visit of a researcher from the University of Maastricht to the Institute of Economic Sciences

Imogen Liu, PhD candidate at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Maastricht, is on a research visit to the Institute of Economic Sciences in Belgrade. Given that one of the strategic aims of the Institute is to increase the number of joint projects with partners from abroad, the Institute tends to develop international scientific cooperation through networking with foreign researchers. The visit was realized as a result of a collaboration established between the Institute and researchers from the COST network, and the grant awarded by the initiative CHERN - China in Europe Research Network.

Thanks to the awarded grant, Imogen was given the opportunity to conduct a research on Chinese investments in infrastructure projects in Serbia. Her aim is to conduct desk and field research. Field research will be realized through a visit to Železara Smederevo and to companies in charge of the construction of the Belgrade-Budapest railway, as well as through interviews with representatives of business and labor organizations that mediate in the realization of Chinese investment projects
