Round table of the Innovation Economics Department

On Friday, 20 October 2023, a round table on "New directions in the design of the European union's innovation policy - implications for Serbia and the region“ was organised by the Innovation Economics Department. The round table gathered more than thirty representatives of the scientific community, decision makers and the non-governmental sector to analyse the innovation policy of the Republic of Serbia and present new trends in the field of innovation policy theory and practise.

In addition to researchers from the Institute of Economic Sciences, experts from the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, the Ministry of European Integration, the ICT Hub, the Faculty of Economics, University of Belgrade, Institute "Torlak", the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Belgrade, the Faculty of Physics, University of Belgrade, the Faculty of Organizational Sciences, Telekom Serbia and the Belgrade Banking Academy also took part in the round table.

Vladimir Radovanović, Assistant Minister for Innovation, Technology Transfer and Technological Development, presented the activities and programmes of the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation that support Serbia’s innovation system. Prof. Dr. Viktor Nedović, Director of the SAIGE project and Coordinator of the Smart Specialization Strategy (S3) in Serbia, spoke about the process of development and implementation of S3 with special reference to the new Action Plan for the period 2023-2025. Ivana Davidović, Head of the group for transnational programs and macroregional strategies in the Ministry of European Integration, presented the programs of European territorial cooperation in the context of opportunities for the research community. Iva Žunić, MEL expert on the ICT Hub project "Serbia Innovates", shared with the participants her experience related to the supercluster model as a way of intensive cooperation between the different actors of the system with the aim of accelerating development of innovations in a narrow field. Research associate at the Institute of Economic Sciences, Dr. Lazar Živković, presented the results of research related to the evolution of innovation policy concepts and the analysis of Serbia’s current innovation policy.
