Workshop as part of the project "Identifying the Causes of Long-term Unemployment among Older Women in Serbia and North Macedonia"

The Institute of Economic Sciences held a workshop on January 27, 2026, as part of the project "Identifying the Causes of Long-term Unemployment among Older Women in Serbia and North Macedonia".

The workshop took place at the European House and brought together relevant stakeholders in the field of employment, as well as social partners. The aim was to present systemic solutions and examples of successful implementation of active labor market measures targeting women aged 50 and over, drawing on the experiences of Slovakia and Poland.

Key conclusions include:

  • the importance of timely measures targeting unemployed women in this age group
  • the need to break down prejudices regarding their reintegration into the labor market
  • consideration of financial incentives to encourage employers to create inclusive employment conditions.

These conclusions will inform the project's policy recommendations. The project is supported by the International Visegrad Fund.
